Ernest Edwin Antes Sr., 70, Landenberg, died January 1, 2006, at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA. He was the husband of Anna Mae McKinney, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Born May 19, 1935 in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Antes and Helen Ford Antes.
Mr. Antes graduated from Kennett High School in 1953. He was a member of the Delaware Air National Guard where he was employed as an aircraft technician for 36 years until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed the time he spent hunting with his brothers and being outdoors. Each spring and summer he could be found getting his plants ready and taking care of his garden. He was quick to offer a helping hand and always enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything that came his way. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ernest E. Antes Jr. and wife, Cathy, Landenberg; daughters, Beverly A. Hunter and husband, John, Maytown, and Carol L. Diaz and husband, Hernan, Nottingham; grandchildren, Tiffany and Ernie Antes III, Jeremy, Jenna and Jamie Hunter, and Joseph, Brandon, and Christy Diaz; brothers, Charles Antes, Landenberg, and Earl Antes, Oxford; and sister, Edria Byler, Exton.
Mr. Antes was predeceased by brother, Joe Antes, and sisters, Helen Miller and Irene Copeland.
Family and friends may call from 7-9 PM Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the Kuzo and Greico Funeral Home Inc., 610-444-4116, 250 W. State Street, Kennett Square, PA, and again Friday from 9-10 AM at the Avon Grove Church of the Nazarene, 240 State Road, West Grove, PA. His funeral service will follow at 10 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
